British actress and model Elizabeth Hurley has been appointed an ambassador for Smile Train, a charity which offers corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips, and will 'lend her support to raise the profile of Smile Train around the world, with a particular focus on her home country, the UK'.

The Runaways star commented 'Hundreds of thousands of children and adults worldwide do not have access to the lifesaving surgery and other comprehensive cleft care they so desperately need. Smile Train works to fill that gap. I am very much looking forward to meeting the children and families whose lives have been transformed by Smile Train, hearing their stories, and speaking out on their behalf'.
